2020 Jetty 2 Jetty Volunteer (Update)

Firstly, a big thank you for your continued support of our Club.
We are excited to confirm the new race date will be Sunday 4th October.

This year, the Jetty 2 Jetty will be conducted under strict COVID-Safe conditions and approval of a COVID-Safe Plan. The race could still be cancelled in the event of a community transmission break out.

There will be no requirement for our members to volunteer for this years race – however, the club will be appropriately remunerated (as per the current agreement) for every hour we provide volunteers.

At the moment we are just seeking an indication from members who are prepared to offer assistance – this will assist with volunteer scheduling of other groups to ensure sufficient numbers to conduct the race. Specific tasks will be allocated in the coming weeks.

We appreciate your response (even if you indicate you are unable to assist) by 24th July.

Leaflet Delivery

Distribution of J2J leaflets along course route

Pre-Race Activities (Thursday and/or Friday)

Tasks include Race Pack preparation / Race Pack collection for teams and individual runners.

Pre-Race Activities (Saturday)

Pre-Race Activities / Event Setup (Pelican Park)

Race Day (Sunday)

Specific roles will be allocated once the registration period closes.
Volunteers are required between 4.00am - 11.00am.

Government guidelines for COVID safe plans were released recently and following a review of the requirements, the Jetty2Jetty can be held under strict guidelines.
The key changes that will need to be made are as follows:
  • Race participants will be capped to comply with social distancing requirements within Pelican Park.
  • The race will need to have start waves and times to again comply with social distancing requirements. This may require an earlier starting time.
  • There may be a requirement to alter the course for the half marathon to adhere to social distancing requirements around the market precinct.
There are still many aspects of the race that need to be worked through in order to get a COVID-Safe Plan approved, and we we will share with members as it becomes available.

Thank you for your support and assistance
